(Pahang, Bentong 7 May) MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has described Tun Mahathir’s remark of having a bumiputra rally once he is back in power as a revelation of the latter’s racism and his ultimate objective.
Liow urges the Chinese community to wake up.
He said once Mahathir’s form of extreme racism is back in the government, the political rights of Chinese would be traded in and the matter ought to be viewed in a serious manner.
Liow, who is also a candidate of Barisan Nasional contesting in Bentong parliamentary seat, was visiting Chamang new village with his mentor Tan Sri Lim Ah Lek this morning. He said this response to Mahathir’s claim that he would be organising a Bumiputra rally to deal with Bumiputra rights and its future development. Also with Lim are MCA senator Datuk Hoh Khai Mun, MCA candidate for Bilut state seat Poo Mun Hoong, Chamang village head Ding Guo Cai and members of the campaigning team.
“Many Chinese are crazy about Mahathir and believe in him. After Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng helped to ‘bleach’ Mahathir, the latter has never changed. He is even more extreme after his retirement to go on Malay supremacy. To the Chinese community, such information is timely for the community to wake up as previously they made the wrong move of supporting Hadi Awang in PAS.”
Liow said many think that Kit Siang is capable of controlling Mahathir. This is impossible. Musa Hitam, Tengku Razaleigh, Anwar Ibrahim and Najib could not fight with him. What are the Lims? Just like Mat Sabu said it before, DAP is too small. It can be killed easily.
Liow said Mahathir has never changed and is even more extreme now. He is partnering with Muhyiddin Yassin, another person who favoured Bumiputra supremacy and would never take DAP into consideration.
“He is still extending the new economic policy indefinitely until today. This is the best way for him to seek Malay votes and also the best approach for him to establish his cronies. He has announced the preview of calling for a Bumiputra rally and still using old gimmick. This will harm a country made up of diversified ethnic groups and damage the entire country.”
He also urges the Chinese of the entire country not to be blurred by Pakatan Harapan and committed error in judgement.
In addition, he said MCA and Barisan Nasional are ready to face the General Election. In the next five years, he would be pushing for development in Bentong and trust that people in Bentong would continue to support Barisan Nasional.
On Tun Mahathir’s daughter Marina Mahathir, during a political talk in Karak organised by Pakatan Harapan where she claimed that the police and army were to abide by instructions from their superior in voting, Liow said this was an insult to both the police and armed forces. This was also a gimmick used by the opposition attempting to sabotage Election Commission and the reputation of the police and armed forces. People have voting rights and elections are held based on a democratic system.
On allegation made by overseas voters who claimed that they have not received postal votes, Liow said the Election Commission should handle the matter immediately.
Lim Ah Lek, on the other hand, said retaining political power of Chinese in the political system is essential. In the past, four ministers were Chinese but now left with three.
Lim said he was a state assemblyman for 15 years where he fought for people and settled problems. Now Liow has brought huge changes to Bentong. He is happy that the baton has been passed to the right person.
